New Volunteer Class ~ This class is full!
Thursday, May 2, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Pet Adoption Center for new volunteers. This is your chance to learn about the variety of Volunteer Opportunities available and begin helping HSCI and our pets in a way which fits your interests and schedule. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or accompanied by a parent at training and each and every time for volunteering. This class is full!

Pooch Parade & Pet Fair!
Save the date Saturday, May 4, as Uptown Normal, Mulberry School and R.A.I.N. host Uptown’s Pooch Parade & Pet Fair! The costumed dog parade is open to all dog lovers who want to show how creative they can get with their pooch’s costume. The parade kicks off at 1:00 pm and prizes will be awarded for the greatest getups! There will also be a pet fair from 10:00 am - 3:00 pm with pet oriented vendor booths, adoptions and educational opportunities. For more details, visit the Pooch Parade & Pet Fair

The HSCI is going to participate in the Pooch Parade and Pet Fair. We are going to have a booth and bring some dogs to visit with the public. Be sure to stop by and bring the whole family!

Be Kind to Animals Week
Did you know May 5 - 11 is Be Kind to Animals Week? Teaching humane values remains a focus of Be Kind to Animals Week activities, by offering adults and children opportunities to develop compassionate attitudes toward animals in our world. Week sponsored by the American Humane Association, www.americanhumane.org.

- Microchip - $30 (includes registration)
Cash or check only (no debit/credit cards). All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Net proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Central Illinois.

There are many good reasons to adopt a senior pet. Take a Second Look: Consider Adopting an Adult Cat or Dog. We usually have plenty of adult cats in our Adult Cat Room. Many of our adult cats are included on our Adoptable Cat webpage.

National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
Please remember our hard-working staff and volunteers during this designated week, November 4 - 10. Our Pet Adoption Center would not be possible without the dedication of many. Show your support this week with a note, a token of appreciation, or a donation. Another easy way to support us is by raving about our work and our animals to friends, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else. We need your support.
