New Volunteer Class ~ This class is full!
Tuesday, May 1, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm at the Pet Adoption Center for new volunteers. This is your chance to learn about the variety of Volunteer Opportunities available and begin helping HSCI and our pets in a way which fits your interests and schedule. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or accompanied by a parent at training and each and every time for volunteering. Registration fee is $10 for each adult (16 or older) and $5 for each child (younger than 16). Vouchers Available for Low-Income Pet Owners to Spay your Female Dog
The Humane Society of Central Illinois is offering a limited number of vouchers that allow low-income residents to spay their female dog for a reduced fee. Eligible residents must show evidence of government assistance, unemployment, Medicaid, etc.
Vouchers are available for female dogs only: up to 40 pounds for $20, over 40 pounds for $30.
Limit of one voucher per household. Proof of current rabies vaccination is required. If the dog is not current on her rabies vaccination, an additional $32 will be payable directly to the veterinary clinic on the day of service. Additional details and vouchers may be obtained at 423 Kays Drive during regular business hours. Spaying your pet helps to keep the pet population down, reducing the number of unwanted dogs/puppies in the community. The vouchers are subsidized through a monetary grant concentrating on pet overpopulation.
Pet Vaccination and Microchip Clinic at PETCO!
There will be a Pet Vaccination and Microchip Clinic on Sunday, May 6, from 12:00 - 2:00 pm at PetCo, at 1700 East College Avenue in Normal.
No appointment needed. (first come - first serve). Services for cats and dogs only.
Rabies - $20
Distemper - $25
Microchip - $30 (includes registration)
Cash or check only (no debit/credit cards). All animals must be on a leash or in a carrier. Net proceeds benefit the Humane Society of Central Illinois.

Did you know May 6 - 12 is Be Kind to Animals Week? Teaching humane values remains a focus of Be Kind to Animals Week activities, by offering adults and children opportunities to develop compassionate attitudes toward animals in our world. Second Annual Humane Society Garage Sale - (Preparation)
Wanted: Donated items for the sale
Items for the Garage Sale should be clean and in working order. Linens, tools, kitchenware, toys, sports equipment, housewares, collectibles, etc., anything you would like to donate! Clothing - Baby and Toddler sizes only please.
Items may be dropped off at 2005 Hedgewood Rd, Bloomington (just off of College, east of Hershey).
- Before 5/18 please call ahead (309)662-3972.
- After 5/18 call ahead or leave on the front porch (white brick 1½ story home).
- Drop off at Humane Society office and we will pick them up.
The Garage Sale will be Friday, June 8 (7:30 am – 6:00 pm) & Saturday, June 9 (7:30 am - 2:00 pm) at 2005 Hedgewood Rd, Bloomington. 100% of the money will go to helping our homeless animals in Central Illinois! Last year's garage sale was a huge success. If you like garage sales be sure to put this one on your calendar! There will be something there for everyone! (Part of the Hedgewood Neighborhood sale, 8 - 12 other sales in the area.)

Black Cat Special!
September 1 – 29 we will have a 25% off all black cats and kittens. Every HSCI adoption comes with a great list of "extras." All of our cats and kittens are spayed or neutered; protected with an identification microchip; they've received their initial round of vaccinations; de-wormed, and treated with flea/tick prevention. Each adopter also receives a free bag of food and kitty treats (while supplies last). And did we mention that the helpful volunteers and staff of HSCI are always available to answer your pet-related questions and help you find the perfect match?

There are many good reasons to adopt a senior pet. Take a Second Look: Consider Adopting an Adult Cat or Dog. We usually have plenty of adult cats in our Adult Cat Room. Many of our adult cats are included on our Adoptable Cat webpage.
Stop by our Pet Adoption Center to visit all of our adult pets.
National Animal Shelter Appreciation Week
Please remember our hard-working staff and volunteers during this designated week, November 5 - 11. Our Pet Adoption Center would not be possible without the dedication of many. Show your support this week with a note, a token of appreciation, or a donation. Another easy way to support us is by raving about our work and our animals to friends, neighbors, co-workers and anyone else. We need your support.
