Hello HSCI fans and Alumni!
My name is Merlin, I'm the strikingly handsome little man with a resemblance to Moby Dick with eyeliner. The black mop - that's my new brother Jesse.
My two brothers (Dooney and Ceasar) found ourselves at the shelter in Spring of 2009. We were very well loved and spoiled rotten in our first home with wonderful parents, but due to life circumstances, we had to go our separate ways. My brothers were adopted out before me, each of them going home with another little boy to keep company. I waited and worried about when my time would come. The nice staff at HSCI who fed me my veggies told me that my family was coming and just to be patient. You know what?, they were right!
Mom and dad came, and put me in a cage in the car and handed me all sorts of veggies and hay and really tasty Oxbow Pellets. After feasting, I fell fast asleep. I stayed with the new humans for a few days, in and out of something called a 'hotel.' I don't know what that is, but I know they have fruit that comes from a basket! Next thing I know, we are at a new house, that smells like other guinea pigs! Soon, I met my brother, Jesse, in the bath tub, in something called neutral territory. We rumbled, we sniffed, we humped, we pulled out some fur. But, we just had to figure out who was boss. I am, but I let him think he is, after all, he's not that bright! We got moved into our room complete with 2 food bowls, 2 hay racks, 3 cozy beds, 2 water bottles and ladies across the street. (Sigh, I can smell them from our room, but momma says we can never meet each other). All that doubling up of stuff makes it less likely that we will fight for silly reasons.
All in all, life is great here. Plenty of food, love and more food.
If my old siblings are reading this with their new families, we would love to hear how you are doing!
Merlin, Jesse, the humans, and the rest of the kids.
