I adopted my boys a few weeks after losing my cat that I had for 18 years. I had taken in a stray then and knew that I would only adopt shelter animals from that point on. I decided that I would like to have two litter mates so they would have company when I was at work.
I went to HSCI and started my search. I found two beautiful Tabby brothers. I was allowed to take them into one of the private rooms to see if we bonded. George was all about affection and getting to know me. His brother seemed a little hesitant but was very sweet. I adopted them on the spot. At home, George took to his new surroundings very quickly but his brother was a little more hesitant. Eventually though, he came around and we bonded quickly.
The next day, I received a call from HSCI and was told by a very nice and extremely apologetic woman that they had given me the wrong cat. George's real brother was still with them. They gave me the choice to return Jerrod (who I thought was the brother) and adopt Curious or I could keep Jerrod and leave Curious there. I was torn. I already had a bond with Jerrod but couldn't stand the thought of leaving Curious without his brother. After about ten minutes, I decided that my house could handle three cats and I went to pick up Curious.
Having three cats was never something I thought I would do but now that I have them, I couldn't picture a day without all three. They get along so well, love to play and wrestle with each other. They each have their own personalities and I am always laughing at something that one of them did. I am truly thankful to HSCI for bringing me my boys!
