November - December

Welcome to the Adventures of Dodger Home for the Holidays!

Dodger came to the shelter in April this year terribly overweight, so our dedicated staff took him on as a special project.

With the help of our dog food partner, Science Diet, he was put on a low-calorie diet. Once they determined that he really did love to get out and walk a lot, the animal care staff decided to get him out as much as possible, enlisting everyone's help to make sure he got outside three or four times a day when possible. In June he was adopted and his loving forever home humans are keeping up with his diet and exercise regimen. The staff and volunteers will never forget Dodger--his cheerful, loving, personality lit up the room. We miss him but are so happy that he's living his best life, Home for the Holidays with his new family.

Now, Dodger wants you to know that the shelter needs your help this holiday season so it can can continue to give the best possible care to pets in need while they wait to go home for the holidays. Your generous donations go far. For example:

  • $300 covers one pet's care while they wait to for their forever home
  • $250 buys dog food for one week
  • $200 buys cat litter for one week
  • $100 covers 20 rabies vaccinations
  • $80 covered spaying or neutering one cat

Make your donation below and then watch for special text messages from Dodger himself, as we make our way Home for the Holidays!  You can also print a PDF of the form and send it into us with a check.

In recognition of April as Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month, the ASPCA works with shelters and educators across the country to raise awareness about animal abuse. Did you know that you as an individual can help crack down on cruelty in your community, too? When a concerned citizen reports the abuse of an animal to the proper authorities, he or she is not only helping that particular animal, but a message is being sent that all acts of animal abuse should be taken seriously.
