Low Income Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens ~ This clinic is full!

Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens

The HSCI is having a Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens only on Monday, June 15. Appointments are required and space is limited. At the time of drop off a surgery consent form will be provided and must be signed by the pet owner. Cats will be transported to an offsite vet or spay/neuter clinic. Kittens must be at least eight weeks of age and two pounds to receive surgery. The Spay/Neuter Clinic fee varies.  Details

  • Drop off will be on Monday, June 15 between 6:45 - 7:00 am at the Pet Adoption Center lobby doors. People are to stay in their cars and bring their own pen to sign the surgery consent form. Staff will come to their vehicle to check in the cat.
  • Pick up will be on Tuesday, June 16 between 8:15 - 8:45 am at the Pet Adoption Center lobby doors. People are to stay in their vehicles and wait for a staff member to assist them.
  • All cats must be in hard sided plastic pet carriers with newspaper in the bottom. No wire cages, soft carriers, etc. Carriers must be in good shape with no cracks, holes, or missing hardware. HSCI does not have carriers to lend. Please borrow from your family or neighbors. Do not put food or toys in the carrier.

Pre-operative Instructions for Cats/Kittens Only

  • Kittens under four months of age: Do not withhold food or water. Feed a small meal on the morning of Monday, June 15.
  • Cats four months and older: Do not withhold food; feed like normal. Water is allowed.

Puppies must be at least eight weeks of age to receive surgery. Puppies under four months of age will not receive a rabies vaccination. Dogs on medication or showing signs of respiratory infections will not be considered for surgery. Dogs will be transported to and from Animal Protective League (APL) in Springfield for spay / neuter.  Details

Ice Cream Social and Concert!   ~  This event has been cancelled.

Ice Cream Social and Concert

Join us for an old-fashioned Ice Cream Social at Franklin Park, Prairie and Chestnut Streets in Bloomington on Thursday, July 23. Our desserts, ice cream and soda will be available from 6:00 - 7:00 pm.

Then, sit back and enjoy the toe-tapping melodies from the Community Band's concert from 7:00 - 8:00 pm. Bring lawn chairs and your dogs if you wish!

All proceeds go directly to the Humane Society of Central Illinois to support the pets.

Fleet Feet Sports is hosting the 2020 Dawson Lake Dash 5K on Sunday, August 23 at 8:00 am at the Moraine View State Park in LeRoy. The Humane Society of Central Illinois is a beneficiary of the event!  Registration and Volunteer links will be posted when available. We hope to see you there!

Adopt a Senior Pet Month

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!  There are many good reasons to adopt a senior pet. Take a Second Look: Consider Adopting an Adult Cat or Dog.

We usually have plenty of adult cats in our Adult Cat Room. Many of our adult cats are included on our Available Cats webpage.

Stop by our Pet Adoption Center to visit all of our adult pets.

Please remember our hard-working staff and volunteers during this designated week, November 1 - 7. Our Pet Adoption Center would not be possible without the dedication of many.
