Low Income Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens ~ This clinic is full!

Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens

The HSCI is having a Spay/Neuter Clinic for Cats/Kittens only on Monday, September 28. Appointments are required and space is limited. At the time of drop off a surgery consent form will be provided and must be signed by the pet owner. Cats will be transported to an offsite vet or spay/neuter clinic. Kittens must be at least eight weeks of age and two pounds to receive surgery. The Spay/Neuter Clinic fee varies.  Details

  • Drop off will be on Monday, September 28 between 6:45 - 7:00 am at the Pet Adoption Center lobby doors. People are to stay in their cars and bring their own pen to sign the surgery consent form. Staff will come to their vehicle to check in the cat.
  • Pick up will be on Tuesday, September 29 between 8:30 - 9:00 am at the Pet Adoption Center lobby doors. People are to stay in their vehicles and wait for a staff member to assist them.
  • All cats must be in hard sided plastic pet carriers with newspaper in the bottom. No wire cages, soft carriers, etc. Carriers must be in good shape with no cracks, holes, or missing hardware. HSCI does not have carriers to lend. Please borrow from your family or neighbors. Do not put food or toys in the carrier.

Pre-operative Instructions for Cats/Kittens Only

  • Kittens under four months of age: Do not withhold food or water. Feed a small meal on the morning of Monday, September 28.
  • Cats four months and older: Do not withhold food; feed like normal. Water is allowed.

This clinic was originally scheduled to take place on Tuesday, September 8 and has been rescheduled for Monday, September 28. We are reaching out to everyone that registered for this clinic. We are sorry for any inconvenience.

HSCI is having a Spay/Neuter Clinic for Dogs/Puppies on Monday, September 28. The Spay/Neuter Clinic fee is $100 for each Dog or Puppy. Fee includes rabies vaccination. Puppies must be at least eight weeks of age to receive surgery. Puppies under four months of age will not receive a rabies vaccination. Dogs on medication or showing signs of respiratory infections will not be considered for surgery. Dogs will be transported to and from Animal Protective League (APL) in Springfield for spay / neuter.  Details

  • Dogs are dropped off at 7:00 am, Monday, September 28 at the Pet Adoption Center, 423 Kays Drive in Normal. Dogs must be in a hard sided carrier with newspapers in the bottom. One dog per carrier. If you need to borrow a carrier, please call the office in advance to make arrangements to have one available.
  • Dogs will be returned to their owners on Tuesday, September 29 between 8:45 - 9:15 am and are to be picked up from the Pet Adoption Center.
  • Owners must sign a surgery consent form at the time of check-in.

Adopt a Senior Pet Month

November is Adopt a Senior Pet Month!  There are many good reasons to adopt a senior pet. Take a Second Look: Consider Adopting an Adult Cat or Dog.

We usually have plenty of adult cats in our Adult Cat Room. Many of our adult cats are included on our Available Cats webpage.

Stop by our Pet Adoption Center to visit all of our adult pets.

Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month

In recognition of April as Prevention of Animal Cruelty Month, the ASPCA works with shelters and educators across the country to raise awareness about animal abuse. Did you know that you as an individual can help crack down on cruelty in your community, too? When a concerned citizen reports the abuse of an animal to the proper authorities, he or she is not only helping that particular animal, but a message is being sent that all acts of animal abuse should be taken seriously.
