I have a child that wants to volunteer. What do I do?
Children certainly love animals and we appreciate their supporting our cause.
Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to work independently. Volunteers ages 8 to 17 must be accompanied by either a parent or guardian 25 years or older who is also a volunteer and must perform the same tasks. Children under the age of 8 cannot volunteer at the shelter. This is to ensure the safety of the child and animals in our care.
We have minimal staff on duty and they cannot be responsible for supervising children. Volunteerism is a great value to teach children and volunteering can be a great family activity.
